Bloodsuckahz, or Bullshiat?

I call Bullshiat. In March a well known St Louis establishment known as The Pageant held a music event known as "The Loop Underground" [ed note: the 'loop' refers to the area in STL known as the Delmar 'Loop']. A trendy and rather upscale part of town known for long established music venues and restaurants, as well as renovated living space and large majestic older homes.

Four acts were performing that night. One Eyed Dog Productions went to the show for the express purpose of shooting the performance of the last act. An act known as HaVoK. Now HaVoK is a rather well known Hell-Hop artist in the Midwest. He's a nice guy with a helluva following and alot of them are young hot females that love to be 'bitten' and other wise, well that isn't why we're here. Anyway, we show up with a three camera crew and shoot the show. While we're there and already set up we shoot the three preceding acts as well. A single camera shoot for those acts. Just to give them a taste of what a little visual documentation can do for them. In the meantime since the show OED has spent a good amount of time editing the HaVoK show. Our three angles plus a random single camera, that became available later, made for a decent 'reality' feel for the concert. It is in no way a concert shoot for HBO or anything, but they like this look, and I agree with the general value of the look for the crowd that they play to.

The Riverfront Times article writer Ben Westhoff starts his four page RFT cover feature with an introduction of HaVoK and talks with great detail and clarity of the opening events of the show. He quotes, verbatim, the conversation that HaVoK and Stogie have on the stage after a stunt involving uber-hottie Rachel. He then goes on to quote Rachel and her feelings about performing the stunt [I won't get into it here, read the RFT piece] and mentions her being an Alive magazine model. Great plug for Alive magazine, by the way.

The article then goes on mentioning some other acts that I have never heard of and so on. It's a good piece. Westhoff does a good job and I am glad that HaVoK got on the cover. He deserves it. He's a good guy and he has a big following.

This brings us to the point that I am trying to make.

1. Ben Westhoff was not at the Pageant that March night.
2. Ben Westhoff writes the story form the perspective that he was, and it enhances the validity of the article.
3.What does Alive magazine have to do with this story?

My point: The work of OED allowed Mr. Westhoff to write a better story than he would have been able to without the edited DVD account of the happenings that night. Alive magazine did not, but Rachel is "a lithe, stacked brunette" by Westhoff's own account. Keep in mind, I like Rachel. She is a good girl. I am actually trying to get her cast in a couple of pending local projects. I like HaVoK. He has thanked OED repeatedly and as mentioned; he is a nice guy. I actually don't have any animosity toward Mr. Westhoff either. I just think that a mention of OED being there to shoot it would have been nice. I don't mind the article being written from a first person account via OED's work, just perhaps say "...blah, blah, blah, while One Eyed Dog Productions was on location filming..." or "...One Eyed Dog Productions' presentation of the entire show can be seen online at...", something. If Mr. Westhoff can wedge Rachel's magazine into a mention, I certainly think that OED has a place in there too.

Alive magazine was mentioned and had nothing to do with this article, or the subject matter of the article. I am sure that Rachel mentioned it though, and that made it worth adding to the flow of the story. I am not asking for a paragraph or anything like that. Just a sprinkle, a touch of respect. That's all. I don’t so much think that Mr. Westhoff doesn’t respect OED, he doesn’t know us. I would think that after watching 40 or so minutes of edited show footage that he has so intricately detailed in his writing of this piece, he knows of us. Not to mention our name being all over it!

HaVoK called me to tell me of this upcoming article in May. He told me that he told Mr. Westhoff was aware of the OED connection. Mr. Westhoff writes the article that he sees fit. That simple.

Perhaps if I were "stacked" this might have worked out better for OED!

P.S. – Before the "you’re a whiner, quit biatching" crap starts rolling in on the comments, stop it. As mentioned I have no problem with the characters in this story, only the glaring double standard in play. It’s a case making a point. So, STFU and GBTW.

Also, we did get the pleasure of meeting a few new friends while shooting the show in March. The Feed, and Ava,Wait are both bands worth checking out if you get the chance. Best of luck to both of those groups. They will do well.
